Pang'onoPang'ono comes from a group of families involved in catechesis for Communion of their children, after 'meeting with Father Mario Pacifici, a missionary in Malawi, the brother of Don Paul pastor of the church of Santa Croce di Rosignano Solvay.
The group of volunteer Pang'onoPang'ono (in Chichewa, the local language, means "slowly") was recognized ONLUS Association in 2001.
The purpose of the group is to work with Father Mario Pacifici operating there by thirty years in the implementation of development projects, training and health that the Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust is carrying out in the district of Balaka and Mangochi.
Malawi is a country located in Africa between the equator and the Tropic of Capricorn, its population is around 11 million inhabitants and is still one of the poorest countries in the world.
The mortality rate is very high because of poor health conditions igenico and the scarcity of water available.
The activities of this group of families began in 2000 with the awareness of the whole community through the involvement of children of asylum, of primary, secondary and higher education of our territory (Livorno province).
Spontaneously and enthusiastically was also Pang'ono Junior group which works to achieve within the laboratories of small craft items: costume jewelry necklaces and accessories made of fabric, all entirely hand-made by children in order to contribute the proceeds , to the projects.
Currently we are a group of about 50 people between adults and children, are also considered because of the volunteers helping in their own way: by participating in events organized to finance the activities and helping to paint and load the containers.
This has allowed me, the implementation of various projects and schedule of future, more and more oriented with a view to meet the needs of the population.
The guarantee of the good order of our business comes from direct contact with the missionaries of the place, which defines the intervention programs based on need and our ability, without having to go through any intermediary.
The Association, formed and run by volunteers, managed to overcome almost entirely operating costs in order to be used without wasting the donations received for supporting remote operation of kindergartens and for the realization of all projects. |
